Kinesiology is a method of healthcare, that creates harmony of the body, mind and spirit.

Kinesiologist uses a system of muscle testing to identify areas of the body not functioning as they should. Any problems so identified, are treated with acupressure ( finger pressure on acupuncture points ),and gentle spinal adjustments.

In addition, Kinesiology incorporates many techniques drawn from Chinese medicine, which combined with Western practices makes for a a very powerful therapy.

Food tests are conducted to establish if there are any sensitivities, after which, nutritional advice is given. This is because water and air pollution, overly processed foods, the depletion of soil quality, the use of chemicals on our food during their growth period and afterwards to preserve them, makes it increasingly difficult to maintain a healthy diet.

Replacing vitamin and mineral deficiencies is vital for the body to heal itself, and alleviate stress.

Kinesiology is often successful for the treatment of migraines, sinus difficulties, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, ME and Chronic Fatigue.

For the mind, a Kinesiologist uses counselling and the Bach Flower Remedies to rid the body of past and present emotional upsets so that a harmonious outcome is possible.

Why Disease Happens:

From a Kinesiologist's perspective, disease / illness can often be treated by determining the root cause as opposed to the application of prescription or non-prescription medications, that simply mask the problem and encourage the development of further problems.

A simple example would be back pain because of shoes, which force the body into an unsatisfactory posture. Without realising this, pain killers might be found to be beneficial. But, as a consequence, the powerful action of the pain killers suppresses the body's natural defences, and muscle damage can occur.Suppressing the body's natural defences leaves you susceptible to ailments such as colds and minor infections that you would normally not suffer from. This can lead to more serious manifestations of such ailments, requiring more and stronger medication, and consequently further difficulties.

How many people do you know, who always seem to be poorly despite the quantity of medication consumed?

In this case, the answer was to obtain a more suitable pair of shoes. A similar situation can occur from headaches of varying degrees of severity. Yes, you could take powerful pain killers for the problem.

However, a more successful result is often obtained through light exercise in the fresh air, and by reducing your stress levels.

Therefore, by determining the relevant causal factors instead of suppressing or attempting to supplant what the body can take care of by itself, a Kinesiologist is likely to be successful in finding a suitable treatment, with the benefit of avoiding a vicious circle of problems.

Acupressure:

Acupressure is a way of manipulating the body's Acupoints through the use of deep, gentle finger pressure. The Acupoints lie along pathways called Meridians.

When an Acupoint or its associated meridian ceases to function as normal, pain or discomfort can result, with the added possibility of emotional complaints such as frustration, irritability, a sense of being ungrounded, vulnerability, and doubt as to your purpose in life.

Acupressure can allow your body and mind to relax, freeing you to explore your thoughts, memories, and beliefs. By way of such exploration, your perception with regard to your universe can change, resulting in a life, with a greater sense of well being.

These ailments are responsive to Acupressure:

Headaches and Migraines.
Neck & shoulder pain. Back pain. Eye strain.
Allergies.
Menstrual difficulties.
PMS Menopausal imbalances.
Fatigue. Anxiety. Insomnia.
Digestive problems.

The Bach Flower Remedies:

The British physician, Edward Bach (1886-1936), was a well-known pioneer of bacterial vaccines ( Bach nosodes ) that have found a permanent place in homeopathic medicine.

Despite these accomplishments, Edward Bach remained dissatisfied, since he regarded illness not to be simply a "dysfunction of the human machine," but disharmony between body and mind.

He postulated that the causes of disease were negative emotional states such as sorrow, fear, dissatisfaction, impatience, sadness, etc, so he started looking for soul remedies that might be influential against the causes of an illness.

Being a great lover of nature, Edward Bach sought out new remedies in the countryside, where he would pick the petal of a single flower, and apply it to his tongue.

With the aid of an immense sensitivity he was able to feel the effect of a plant on the human body and psyche. In this way he found the plants he thought were useful for the treatment of negative emotional states. He used not only the blossoms of wildflowers but also the flowers of wild shrubs, bushes, and trees.

Bach Flower Remedies are produced in two ways: Using the sun method the flowers are picked in full sunshine and put in a glass bowl with fresh spring water, preferably from a spring close to the location of the flower. It is sufficient that the flowers only cover the surface of the water. The bowl and its contents are then placed in direct sunlight for two to four hours, the sun's energy transfering the flower's vibrations into the water, ao that the water becomes energetically impregnated. The flowers are subsequently removed and an equal portion of alcohol is added for preservation. The solution, so derived, is stored in a stock bottle. During treatment, it is usual to dilute the remedy with water.

Because not all flowers, shrubs, bushes, and trees bloom at a time of year with an abundance of sunshine, it is ecessary to employ what is called the cooking method.

In this case, the flowers and buds are picked as in the sun method, boiled down, the reesulting extract filtered several times, and then re-mixed with the same proportion of alcohol as a preservative. The process is continued as if the remedy had been produced by the sun method.

Nutritional Matters:

Nutrition is a matter of considerable interest for those wishing to lead a healthier lifestyle. The following is an outline of the basics, important to Kinesiology... and you.

Vitamins A, C, D, and E are known as antioxidants, and are believed to act as free radical scavengers, mopping up harmful chemicals associated with many diseases and cancers. Another factor, with respect to cancers, is the observation that their presence is helpful in maintaining of the structural integrity of cells; especially the cell surface. A cocktail of vitamin E and other antioxidants such as selenium, and the vitamins A and D, is considered a good remedy.

Vitamin A is important to the health of the skin, and the cells which line the mucous membranes of the lungs, nose, throat, intestines and the female sexual organs. A deficiency can give rise to skin, and respiratory tract problems. In cases of psoriasis; dermatitis, acne and asthma, a vitamin A supplement is often helpful. Alcoholics often lack this vitamin, and are vulnerable to the aforementioned. It is also recommended for AIDS patients, to bolster their immune system.

Experts recommend eating five portions of fruit and vegetables every day, since they are rich sources of vitamin C. The best known are the citrus fruits, oranges, limes, grapefruit and lemons. High concentrations of vitamin C are also found in rose hips, cherries, strawberries, papayas, melons, red and green peppers broccoli, tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, dark green cabbage and parsley. Bean-sprouts are another excellent source, but because of the fragility of the vitamin, you should sprout your own beans.Cooking, and intense light easily destroys vitamin C. So will a neutralising alkaline agent. such as baking soda, for vitamin C is an acid... Ascorbic Acid.

Major users of vitamin C include, the elderly, pregnant and nursing mothers, children, athletes, smokers, high consumers of alcohol, people who take a lot of antibiotics, steroids or aspirin. In these cases, a vitamin C supplement is recommended. Sufferers of Asthma, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, gout, allergies, varicose veins, heart disease, high blood pressure, herpes infections and depression, often find vitamin C to be a benefit, too. Vitamin E, one of the most powerful antioxidants known, was discovered in 1922 It is a fat-soluble vitamin, essential to our diet, and has many different uses. Being readily available in most of what we eat, a deficiency is unlikely. Nonetheless, a low level of this vitamin is common in sufferers of skin complaints, acne, gall stones, some cancers and Alzheimer's disease.

A deficiency can occur in premature babies or in some babies fed on cow's milk, and in adults suffering from gastrointestinal problems where absorption of fats is a problem. Do not take vitamin E with iron, since this reduces the absorption of both substances. Vitamin E is good for the treatment of shingles, peptic ulcers, diabetes, herpes, PMS, and the speedier healing of wounds. The cell membranes of the eyes, liver, breasts and testes are particularly responsive to vitamin E.

For many years, vitamin E has been regarded as an anti-sterility remedy and is often recommended to boost fertility. Although this claim isn't supported by any precise research, it does seem to have helped a few people. Most likely, this has been due to the enhanced blood circulation and oxygen flow around the body, that an adequate level of vitamin E is associated with.Tocopherol is another name for Vitamin E. The B vitamins greatly affect the correct working of the nervous system. For this reason they are often prescribed for depression, and stress. People who are prone to heart disease, lack of concentration, irritability and memory loss, are treated with vitamin B1. B1 is also known as Thiamine. It is also known as the 'morale vitamin.' And, interestingly enough, those lacking it are more attractive to insects.

Thiamine is a very delicate vitamin, easily destroyed by cooking, and alcohol. It is very important in pregnancy because it ensures correct growth of the foetus, so supplementation is worth considering. It is also a recommended treatment for lumbago and sciatic pain. Overdosing is virtually impossible, as this is a water-soluble vitamin, the body safely excreting any excess. Many breakfast cereals are fortified with thiamine. It is also found in yeast extract, soya products, pork chops, rice and peas. There are lesser amounts in potatoes, chicken and roasted peanuts.

The control of calcium and phosphorous is vital for healthy bones. This requires vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin, since the body actually manufactures it from sunshine. Bone growth is an ongoing process throughout our lives. It is a living tissue, and there is constant activity within its matrix, where calcium and phosphorus are constantly being added or removed, depending on the body's other needs. If the body is low in supplies of vitamin D, no matter how good the supply of calcium and phosphorus, bone quality will be poor. Conversely, if vitamin D levels are high, bone quality will be good, even if dietary intake of calcium is low. Because of this, it is vital that children have adequate supplies of vitamin D. The best way for this to happen is for children to play outside as much as possible, and to have an adequate dietary intake.

Because vitamin D controls the quantities of calcium re-absorbed into bones and teeth, so that a normal level is maintained in the blood. it is also responsible for decreasing the amount of calcium excreted by the kidneys. In recent years, there has been much talk about Osteoporosis, with particular concern centred on the health of post- menopausal women. Vitamin D is helpful for this complaint.

Beta-carotene is reckoned to have an important function with respect to the efficiency of the immune response. Beta-carotene can also aid the prevention of cancer, particularly colon and lung cancer. Deficiency of beta-carotene is a contributing factor to high blood pressure, and is often lacking in women who bleed very heavily during menstruation.
